Henriikka Piekkala

Henriikka Piekkala is a Senior Counsel at the Helsinki office of Geradin Partners. She has over 25 years of experience in EU and Finnish competition law and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on regulated industries, including telecoms, postal services, media and energy.

Prior to joining Geradin Partners, Henriikka spent 15 years at a leading law firm, where she advised companies and public entities on a broad range of competition and regulatory matters, including abuse of dominant position, cartels, state aid, merger control and foreign investment control. She has particular expertise in pricing issues and access regulation in regulated sectors, and has regularly represented clients before national courts, the European Commission, and the European Court of Justice.

Before entering private practice, Henriikka served as Legal Counsel at the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority, where she worked for a decade. In that role, she was responsible for regulatory supervision, legislative reform and spectrum auctions, and represented the Authority before the European Commission, the Independent Regulators’ Group, Nordic cooperation bodies, and Finnish courts, including the Supreme Administrative Court. Earlier in her career, she served as a Research Officer at the Finnish Competition Authority.
