Biography

Mikko Alkio is a Brussels and Helsinki based partner. In addition to complex competition law and regulatory issues. He has extensive experience of advising clients on, e.g., foreign direct investment screenings, state aid, and industry-specific regulatory matters in areas such as healthcare, technology and media, energy and infrastructure, telecoms, and gaming. He is recognized as one of the leading experts in the field of regulated industries in Finland.

Mikko headed the EU, Competition & Regulatory practice at another leading law firm for more than ten years. Prior to that, he has held advisory positions in the Ministry of Economy, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Finnish EU Commissioner’s cabinet. Mikko has authored several books and publications on EU and competition law, state aid regulation and sector-specific topics.

Mikko is recognized as one of the leading experts in Finland in EU and Competition law by international publications such as Chambers Europe, The Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal.
