Joona Aaltonen joins Geradin Partners’ Helsinki team
Joona Aaltonen will join Geradin Partners’ Helsinki office as of 1 June. He will strengthen the firm’s growing Government Relations practice and bring to the team strong expertise in public affairs, business and communications.
The operating environment for companies is becoming increasingly complex. Regulation, politics, business, technology, geopolitics and public debate are more closely connected than ever. This development creates a growing need for advisers who understand not only law and regulation, but also how public decision-making, business and media interact in practice.
Joona Aaltonen brings to Geradin Partners broad experience from the intersection of public affairs, communications and business. He has previously worked at the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) and Helsingin Sanomat. Through these roles, he has developed a wide understanding of how society, politics, media and the business community operate — and how they influence each other.
At Geradin Partners, Aaltonen will support the development of the firm’s Government Relations practice in Helsinki. His experience will further strengthen the firm’s ability to advise clients in matters where legal analysis, regulatory insight, public affairs and communications strategy come together.
“Joona is a very welcome addition to our team. He represents a new generation of professionals with an exceptional understanding of society, business and the way in which decision-making, media and companies’ operating environment are connected. We are very pleased to have Joona join us in strengthening our Helsinki team and building our Government Relations practice,” says Mikko Alkio, Partner at Geradin Partners.
Damien Geradin, Founding Partner of Geradin Partners, also sees Aaltonen’s arrival as an important step in the development of the Helsinki office.
“Companies increasingly operate in an environment where law, regulation, public policy and public debate are deeply connected. Joona’s experience in business advocacy, media and societal affairs will bring an important new perspective to our Helsinki team. We are very pleased to welcome him to Geradin Partners,” says Damien Geradin, Founding Partner of Geradin Partners.
Aaltonen will start at Geradin Partners on 1 June.
