Tuomas Pöysti appointed to lead Geradin Partners’ Investigations and Cross-border Trade Practice

Geradin Partners is delighted to announce that Tuomas Pöysti, who has stepped down from his role as Chancellor of Justice of the Government of Finland, will join the firm as Senior Counsel starting in August. Pöysti will first be based at Geradin Partners’ Brussels office and later he will also be working in Helsinki.

During his tenure as Chancellor of Justice, Pöysti served as the supreme independent overseer of legality in Finland, with responsibilities including the legal oversight of the Government (at the Cabinet minister level), the President of the Republic, courts, public authorities and all those performing public tasks.

“I am thrilled that Tuomas has decided to join our rapidly growing firm. His exceptional experience will be highly valued by our clients, particularly in the context of complex contentious, risk management, and compliance matters. His exceptionally broad and in-depth knowledge of national and European law will be an invaluable resource for our clients”, Damien Geradin, the founder of Geradin Partners, says.

Mikko Alkio, partner at Helsinki office, comments: “Tuomas is the perfect addition to lead Geradin Partners’ investigations practice, where we advise clients in both preventive (ex ante) and responsive (ex post) corporate investigations. Tuomas will also support us in cross-border regulatory affairs, including trade and investment issues which are of growing importance to our clients.”

Pöysti comments: “Geradin Partners is frequently engaged in strategic roles, working closely with boards, general counsel, and other senior executives. The team operates across a wide range of sectors, including trade and complex tech law issues. I am very much looking forward to working in this environment and combining my own extensive experience with that of the talented team members at Geradin Partners.”

Geradin Partners operates in five European jurisdictions and is known for its deep expertise in competition law, EU regulation, and highly regulated industries. Pöysti will be leading the Investigations practice.
