DMCC drinks reception in London
Geradin Partners hosted its second annual reception at The Ned in London for all those involved in the digital markets regime under the UK’s Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act. The new regime came into force in January 2025 and the CMA was quick to launch its first designation investigations into Google and Apple, all of which contained a comprehensive list of potential remedies. The third designation investigation is expected to be launched in the coming months. The first conduct requirements could be in force in early 2026.
There were speeches from Jambu Palaniappan (CEO, Checkatrade), Chris Prevett (General Counsel, Competition and Markets Authority), Tami Hoffman (Director of Public Policy, The Guardian), and Tom Smith (Geradin Partners). Attendees from the worlds of business, law, economics, regulation, and politics discussed the changed political environment since the legislation was passed just over a year ago, and the progress made by the CMA in fulfilling its new statutory objectives.
