Sanna Syrjälä joins Geradin Partners as Senior Counsel on 1 February 2026 – bringing unmatched merger control, antitrust and enforcement expertise

Geradin Partners is proud to announce that Sanna Syrjälä, one of Finland’s most respected and experienced competition law enforcers, will join the firm as Senior Counsel as of 1 February 2026. Syrjälä joins from the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority, where she has built a career of nearly two decades and most recently served as Deputy Director General for Competition and long-standing Head of the Merger Control Unit.

Syrjälä is widely regarded as one of the central architects of modern Finnish competition enforcement. Her expertise spans not only merger control, but also the full spectrum of antitrust investigations, abuse of dominance cases, cartel enforcement and complex administrative court litigation. She is known for her exceptional procedural command, deep economic understanding and extensive Nordic and European regulatory networks. Very few professionals in Finland have personally handled as many high-stakes competition matters at the most demanding level.
