Geradin Partners: major expansion in Europe

Brussels, 1 September 2025

Geradin Partners continues its rapid expansion in Europe with its launch in Germany, as well as the addition of multiple partners, senior counsel, counsel and associates across its office network, increasing the total number of the firm’s specialist competition lawyers to over 50, including 17 partners. These appointments will enhance Geradin Partners’ leadership position in its three core practice areas: (i) competition law in all its forms (antitrust, merger control, foreign subsidies control, FDI, and State aid); (ii) economic regulation with a strong focus on tech and media; and (iii) competition and related regulatory litigation. They also underscore the firm’s ability to attract top-tier talent and solidify its position at the forefront of European competition law – a status already recognised by the global legal community through its recent accolade as GCR’s Regional Law Firm of the Year: Europe in April 2025.

Launch of Geradin Partners’ German offices

Our Berlin and Cologne offices open their doors today under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Funke and Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoppner with their team, which includes four counsel (Catharina Schulte-Wintrop, Ghazale Mandegarian-Fricke, Philip Westerhoff, and Johannes Wick) and a number of senior associates and associates. Our German team will strengthen Geradin Partners’ offering in its three core areas of practice and give Geradin Partners a strong footprint in the important German legal market.

Significant hires in Brussels, London and Paris

In Brussels, Daniel Baker and Jérémie Jourdan are joining today as partners. Daniel will strengthen our transactional practice, focusing on merger control and foreign subsidies control, while Jérémie, who will dedicate some of his time to the Paris office, will work across our three core areas of practice with a focus on tech regulatory and competition matters and litigation before the EU courts. With their arrival, and Trevor Soames’ earlier arrival in February, Geradin Partners’ Brussels office will now have six partners.

Damian Collins, former Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, former Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee and Chair of the Joint Committee of the House of Commons and House of Lords scrutinising the Online Safety Bill, is joining our London office today.  Marie Sellier, former public affairs director at Vivendi and leading expert in digital matters, is joining our Paris office. Both Damian and Marie will add further strength to our fast-growing public policy practice, focusing on tech and media matters. They follow the arrival earlier this year of Jan Vapaavuori, former Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland and Tuomas Pöysti, the former Chancellor of Justice, to our Helsinki office. Together, they will be able to offer our clients trade and public policy advice.

Our London office also welcomes counsel Kieran Anderson, an experienced competition litigator with a strong track record in major cases. He will play a key role in our growing portfolio of matters before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Geradin Partners is a leading pan-European, independent and fully integrated law firm that focuses exclusively on competition law, litigation and regulation, with offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Helsinki, London and Paris.
