Biography

Anthony is counsel at Geradin Partners.

Prior to joining Geradin Partners, Anthony was an Assistant Legal Director at the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). At the CMA, Anthony advised on a range of merger, antitrust, cartel and policy matters including: the CMA’s investigation into suspected anti-competitive arrangements in UK government bonds, the CMA’s Phase 2 investigation of the Broadcom/VMware (server software and hardware) merger, enforcement action under various orders and undertakings imposed following merger and market investigations, and the CMA’s external guidance on horizontal agreements and on sustainability.

From 2016 to 2020, Anthony was an associate in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s London antitrust litigation team. While at Freshfields, Anthony worked on a range of competition and competition litigation matters. This included advising a global truck manufacturer on its Europe-wide defence of claims arising from the European Commission’s Article 101 decision on the trucks industry. Anthony also advised a global investment bank in relation to the European Commission’s and other regulators’ investigations into EURIBOR antitrust infringements, including advising on appeals before the EU General Court and Court of Justice. Prior to qualification, Anthony also completed his training contract at Freshfields.

In 2019, Anthony acted as a judicial assistant in the High Court of England and Wales, assisting High Court judges in their ongoing cases with research, analysis and drafting.

Experience

  • Advised on UK Chapter I investigation into suspected anti-competitive arrangements in UK government bonds.
  • Advised on UK Phase 2 Broadcom/VMware (server software and hardware) merger investigation.
  • Advised on UK Chapter I antitrust investigation into suspected anti-competitive arrangements in the fashion sector.
  • Advised on CMA’s external guidance on the application of the Competition Act 1998 to horizontal agreements.
  • Advised on CMA’s external guidance on the application of the Competition Act 1998 to agreements between businesses aimed at environmental sustainability.
  • Advised on enforcement of various orders and undertakings imposed following mergers or market investigations.
  • Advised a global investment bank on the European Commission’s and other regulators’ investigations into EURIBOR antitrust infringements, including advising on appeals to the EU General Court and Court of Justice.
  • Advised a global truck manufacturer on its Europe-wide defence of claims arising from the European Commission’s Article 101 decision on the trucks industry, including in litigation before the UK High Court and the UK Competition Appeals Tribunal.
  • Advised a fast-moving consumer goods manufacturer on EU administrative law and consumer law.
  • Judicial assistant in the High Court of England and Wales, assisting High Court judges in their ongoing cases with research, analysis and drafting (Michaelmas term). Assigned to the Administrative Court and QB Civil divisions, working on a range of public law and commercial disputes.
