Daniel Mandrescu

Biography

Daniel Mandrescu is a legal consultant at Geradin Partners and an Assistant Professor of EU competition law and tech regulation at Leiden University. 

Before joining Geradin Partners, Daniel completed his PhD in EU competition law at Leiden University in 2022. The focus of his dissertation was on the application of Art. 102 TFEU to dominant digital platforms. His research has been published in the Journal of Antitrust Enforcement, World Competition, European Competition Journal, European Competition Law Review, European Competition and Regulatory Law Review, Computer Law & Security Review, Global Competition Litigation Review, and Legal Issues of Economic Integration. 

At Leiden University, Daniel is the deputy director of the Advanced LLM program European and International Business Law.

In addition to his roles at Geradin Partners and Leiden University, Daniel is also a board member of the Dutch Association of Competition Law, where he is responsible for bridging the gap between practice and academia, and a member of the editorial board of the Dutch Journal of Competition Law and Practice (Mededingingsrecht in de Praktijk) where he is also an active contributor.  

Over the past years, Daniel has worked on the creation of legal tech tools in cooperation with the competition law division of Wolters Kluwer International. This resulted in the launch of the Market Definition Locator tool that provides competition law practitioners with the European Commission’s market definition in all of its merger filings since 2012, which Daniel continues to co-manage.
