Biography

Ghazale is counsel at Geradin Partners. She has worked on a wide range of antitrust, cartel, merger control and competition litigation matters for more than 10 years. 

Ghazale has defended clients in European Commission and Bundeskartellamt cartel investigations. She also has profound experience in German and EU merger control, having obtained regulatory clearances for complex cross-border transactions. Ghazale regularly advises clients on compliance in distribution, sourcing and co-operation. She has also advised and published on the EU Whistleblower Directive.

Prior to joining Geradin Partners, Ghazale worked at leading international law firms. Having started her career as Associate at Baker & McKenzie in 2013, Ghazale left in 2016 to work as Senior Associate and later as Counsel in the competition law department of Osborne Clarke. From 2017 to 2024 she taught the sector-specific EU competition law for the automotive sector at GVA College.

Experience

  • Defending a leading international tour operator in a European Commission antitrust investigation
  • Defending a German automotive parts supplier in a Bundeskartellamt cartel investigation 
  • Representing the European Commission before the Court of Justice and the General Court of the European Union in actions for annulment regarding the merger clearances for E.ON/innogy and RWE/E.ON Assets (C-464/23) 
  • Advising a leading telecoms corporation on information exchange and gun-jumping in a pre-merger phase
  • Representing automotive sector companies with regard to the EU Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation
  • Representing Deutsche Bahn group in follow-on damages litigation against the members of the European trucks cartel 
  • Filing a large number of merger control notifications to the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) and the European Commission (health, food, technology, transport, FMCG, tourism)
